You want to make sure your coffee table is very low so that it doesn’t block the view from the TV. Most coffee tables we have are around 40 cm off ground. Some models may be slightly higher and are best placed next to the couch, rather than directly in front. It all depends on how you plan to use it and where it will be placed. Make sure you pay attention to the height of the item you select.
Once you’ve settled on a size, the fun begins. Then you can pick from this stunning collection of coffee tables. Some of these coffee tables are so large that our designers went crazy. A coffee table that is a bit experimental can be a great addition to the living room.
A simple table can have four legs and a single tabletop. This is fine for most people. Some coffee tables come with shelves or drawers inside, which can be used to make extra storage space. They’re perfect for organizing magazines and books.
Our selection of coffee tables is sure to please those who place more importance on form than function. There are many styles to choose from, from elegantly crafted wooden frames to sleek glass-topped elegance. It doesn’t stop there. You have the option to go marble-topped, or for distressed timber. There are many shapes and sizes to choose from so it doesn’t need to be a rectangle.
You can break up the space by placing a coffee table in its centre. Perhaps you’ll even enjoy a cup with your coffee from it.

Are you looking for the perfect coffee tables? It’s time to have some fun. You don’t have to leave the surface empty. Why not add decorative touches? It is not easy to create a stunning tablescape. Begin with flower power. Fresh flowers not only bring beautiful accents of colour but they also create a relaxing and calming atmosphere. The timeless classics photography books and colourful bowls are also great additions to your coffee table.
When a coffee table is too low or high, you’ll immediately notice it feels “off”. To ensure comfortableness for everyday use and guests, opt for a coffee table with a height 2.54 to 5.08 cm lower than the height of the sofa seating. Not only does this help with balance and scale, but it also allows a high level of comfortability for all guests. For instance, if you have a lower height sofa, a low lounge table works well but will look off with a traditional sofa. While a lower height table supplies a great lounge look with a lounge-like sofa.
Another option is to go glam by adding sculptures and metal art. You will be amazed at the positive impact that a few artistic touches can have in your living space. A decorative tray can add visual interest and dimension to your living space. The tray can be used as a catchall for larger tables and it can also be used as a way to fill in the spaces on larger surfaces. You can find more ideas for styling your coffee table here.
A coffee table can do so much more than provide a surface for cups and remotes. A glass coffee-table makes a beautiful, subtle addition to the space, while a coffee-table with storage is ideal for creating space for a striking centerpiece. Need some design inspiration? Here are some ways to make your coffee a focal point in your living room.
A coffee table could also be a great place to display a souvenir or ornament you picked up on your travels, as well as any collectibles or antiques you want to display.
Now that the size and shape are figured out, it’s time to choose the perfect shape for your coffee table. More often than not, narrowing the selection between a rectangle, round, square, or oval coffee table is significantly reduced by the length and clearance required, which we’ve already figured out.
Consider rectangle or oval if you have a sofa or a sofa with a chaise so everyone can have easy access to the table no matter where they sit. Rectangle and oval are great choices if you have a narrow space with minimal walk-around clearance.
Consider a round or square shape coffee table with a sectional sofa, ensuring balance, scale, and ease of access to the table.
Most rectangular and oval-shaped coffee tables can almost be interchanged, depending on what kind of flow you’re looking for—the same goes with round and square.
Another item to consider is the “weightiness” of the coffee table. The table should complement the other furniture in the room. For the room to feel more open, choose a table with high skinny legs or space between the floor and the bottom of the piece. If you want the room to feel more grounded, choose a coffee table that’s solid all the way to the ground.
Before selecting a coffee table, narrow down a few materials that work well with your lifestyle. Consider unique materials that elevate and complement your style.
Wood – Wood coffee tables are extremely popular due to their durability, practicality, and versatility. Plus, after a few years, it can easily be upcycled by sanding it down, priming it and refinishing it. Some wooden coffee tables are finished with a thin layer of veneer on the surface which usually makes them less expensive. A solid wood coffee table or a table that has a high-quality veneer finish is better in this case.
Glass – While glass is more fragile and delicate, it does help trick the eye into thinking a room is airier and larger than it actually is. Plus, if you have a cool rug you want to show off, glass doesn’t cover it up. Keep in mind, glass may not be ideal for families with small children due to its fragility and sharp edges.
